Lost Librarian Lament

I don’t keep many books, this is not my need,
I know this may seem strange but
I’m a lost librarian forcing people to read.

Magazines are easy to give away, just follow my lead,
No need to keep stale information around, to get into a rut,
I don’t keep many books this is not my need.

I’m like a gardener planting a seed,
Or a squirrel preparing for winter gathering a harvest of nuts,
I’m a lost librarian forcing people to read.

You should read this, you should read that, has become my creed,
When I appear villagers hide in their huts,
I don’t keep many books this is not my need.

I have a need to control, for others to feed,
Insatiable, incorrigible, information overload – what to cut?
I’m a lost librarian forcing people to read.

So here within a warning to heed,
When you hear me coming slam that door shut –
I don’t keep many books this is not my need.
I’m a lost librarian forcing people to read.
